John Ferrari
John Ferrari currently serves as the President and CEO of LightPort, a software developer and application service provider serving the communications, compliance, and financial reporting needs of many of the nation’s leading asset management firms. John came to LightPort bringing 18 years of global management experience acquired in the high technology and telecom sectors.
John most recently spent 10 years with Nokia where he held senior leadership roles in sales, marketing, product management, and strategic planning within their mobile phone, wireless infrastructure, and new ventures organizations. During his tenure at Nokia, the company grew from a relative unknown in the US to the #1 position in terms of sales, profitability, market share, and brand awareness. In addition to leading teams which launched many of the industry’s leading mobile phones, John was a founding member and the Marketing Chairman of the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (now WiFi Alliance). In this capacity, he was responsible for the creation and launch of the “WiFi” brand and logo which has rapidly emerged into the globally recognized icon for wireless LAN products and services.
Prior to joining Nokia, John spent two years in the Boston area earning his MBA at Babson’s FW Olin Graduate School of Business. While a graduate student, he was selected to participate in Babson’s International Management Consulting Program which led to a management position with Angus & Coote, a major Australian retailer based in Sydney.
The early stage of John’s business career was spent working alongside his father to launch Ferrari & Co., a manufacturers’ representative firm serving electronic component manufacturers in the New England marketplace.
Born and raised in the Boston area, John’s educational background includes the United States Air Force Academy, the University of Massachusetts, and the FW Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College. He has earned a BS degree in Behavioral Science and an MBA with concentrations in Marketing & Entrepreneurship. John is also a Licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Florida.
John currently resides in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife and 3 children where free time is spent enjoying the area’s beaches and waterways as well as training alongside his children in the martial art of Songahm Tae Kwon Do.
